Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects children, young adults, and adults. It can be difficult to handle symptoms alone, but there are resources to help. Learn more about ADHD and other mental health resources.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been diagnosed in around 2 million people in the United States. It is indeed a spectrum, and people with an ASD diagnosis can have wildly different issues and challenges.
However, around half of all children diagnosed with ASD also experience sleep issues. Typically, they have issues falling asleep and don’t experience restful sleep, which can cause their other issues to worsen. This is also true of adults with ASD.
Seniors on the Autism Spectrum
Seniors across the country deal with numerous physical and mental health conditions every day that have been heavily studied, but there is not nearly as much research on the experience of those who are on the spectrum. Better understanding what autism looks like in seniors and how it may impact their lives can help make a difference for both them and their families.
